MARGAO: Agxem Sports Club blanked SFX Camarxett 2-0 to advance in the quarter-finals of the 1st Caniza Peixoto Memorial Football Tournament Org by Agxem Sports Club and played at St.Alex Church ground custom.
In a rain-hit match, Agxem and SFX started the match at a slow pace due to slippery ground and SFX Clinton Pinto’s shot in the 10th minute sailed over the crossbar while Jovial Martin’s of Agxem sports club scored the first goal in the 20th minutes with a powerful left-footer. In the second half, SFX’s combination of Marcus, Velroy and Meliston tried hard and tasted Agxem’s goalkeeper and defence many times but couldn’t find the equaliser while Agxem’s scored another goal as Nickson Castanah left footer deflected SFX’s defence and crushed in their net in the 50th minutes of play. SFX Velroy Paes in the injury time from the right wing took a powerful shoot which was punched away by Agxem goalkeeper.
Velroy Paes of SFX Camarxett was awarded man of the match for his outstanding performance on the field by Carmo Anthon Fernandes former goalkeeper of Agxem club.
