PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today has issued stern warning to government-aided schools found charging extra fees from students.
CM Sawant was addressing the press conference in presence of Education department officials.
“I warn government-aided schools found charging extra fees from students.
there is no need to pay any additional or different fees as these schools are getting all the funding from the government,” said Sawant
He further said that government gives grants-in-aid as well as maintenance fees to the aided schools. There have been complaints that these schools seek donations/fees for PTA, transport, maintenance, etc.
“Every student in such schools gets free education…If there are written complaints, we will not shy away from taking action against them,” Sawant said.
The CM admitted that some parents and students, who have faced this situation, are hesitant to complain fearing repercussions from their respective schools. However, he reiterated that if the government receives written complaints, action will soon follow.
Chief Minister also said that Parents should discuss career guidance with teachers after 10th grade. “I advise teachers to provide individualised guidance to students to help them choose a career path that best suits their abilities and interests,” CM added
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant also congratulated the Headmasters and teachers of 41 government high schools which achieved 100% results in the Goa Board SSC exam.

Meanwhile, Directorate of Education (DoE) said that There will be a review meeting to decide whether NEP implementation should be done for the 9th standard for the upcoming academic year, as of now nothing has been finalised: DoE
