QUEPEM: A woman connected to an NGO that works for the care of older persons in Curchorem is accused of defrauding a number of elderly people, many of whom were patients, out of crores of rupees in a startling fraud case.
By gaining access to her victims’ SIM cards, taking money out of their fixed deposits, and even snatching gold jewelry from their bank vaults, the accused is accused of abusing their confidence.
The woman is the subject of a complaint filed at the Curchorem Police Station. Locals, however, are furious over what they perceive to be the police’s tardiness in filing the complaint.
Residents rushed the Curchorem Police Station on Tuesday night, demanding an immediate inquiry and justice for the victims, frustrated by the lack of action.
