Young Maratha and Maratha Warriors register impressive wins in league clashes of the Chetan Manju Desai T20 Cricket Tournament in Canacona.

Panaji: Young Maratha and Maratha Warriors recorded convincing victories in their respective league encounters of the 1st Chetan Manju Desai T20 Cricket Tournament held at the GCA Grounds in Mashem, Canacona.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Young Maratha produced a commanding batting display to post a strong total of 185 for 5 in their allotted overs. The innings was anchored by a brilliant knock from Akhil Desai, who smashed 75 runs in an aggressive effort that featured six towering sixes and three boundaries. His powerful stroke play provided the backbone of the innings and helped set a challenging target for the opposition.
Young Maratha also received valuable support from Kaushik Bhandari, who contributed 35 runs, while Harshad Naik Gaonkar added a useful 28 runs to strengthen the team’s total.
In reply, SBK Talpona struggled against the disciplined bowling attack of Young Maratha. The batting lineup collapsed under pressure and was bowled out for just 26 runs in 9.3 overs, handing Young Maratha a massive victory by 159 runs. Akhil Desai capped off an outstanding all round performance by picking up three wickets in just nine deliveries. Babu Chawan also played a key role with the ball, claiming two wickets while bowling two maiden overs. Earlier in the match, Udit Pagi of SBK Talpona managed to pick up three wickets for 37 runs.
The second match of the day turned out to be a closely contested encounter. Maratha Warriors posted a competitive total of 158 for 9 and managed to defend it successfully against Jan Sena Warriors.
Jan Sena Warriors fought hard in the chase but fell short, finishing at 150 for 6 and losing the match by eight runs. Aman Komarpant played a crucial role for Maratha Warriors, scoring 45 runs that included two sixes and five boundaries. He also picked up a wicket and was named player of the match. Pruthviraj Komarpant contributed 28 runs with four boundaries, while Jugal Naik Gaonkar added 27 runs with three sixes and a boundary.
