MOPA: A 51-year-old US citizen was arrested by the Mopa Airport Police for allegedly carrying a satellite phone just before his trip to Delhi.
When the accused, Brian Erich Genz of Kenosha, Wisconsin, USA, had his handbag screened, authorities said they found an Iridium satellite phone. Brian was on his way from the Manohar International Airport in Mopa to Delhi.
When asked, the accused was unable to provide a license or proof of authorization from the appropriate authority to carry the instrument, which is illegal in India.
On Friday, November 8, the incident took place. Section 3 read with Section 6 (1A) of the Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act 1933 has been used to record an offense, and PSI is looking into the matter.
