VASCO: Amey Chopdekar, ward councilor of 18, was elected unopposed to the post of Vice-Chairperson of Mormugao municipal council in a special meeting called in Mormugao municipality on Tuesday.
As per the information given by the presiding officer Dattaraj Gawas Desai, Deputy Collector of Mormugao, said that during the Vice-Chairperson election, 14 councilors remained present for the election and supported Amey Chopdekar for the position of Vice-Chairperson.
Later, Amey Chopdekar told the media that his main Priorities would be to do a follow-up on various civic works which need to be pursued regularly.
He added that he would take up the responsibility for pre-monsoon works in Mormugao municipal area. Garbage collection and making municipal areas garbage-free will be his other priority.
Later, when questioned about his political career, Chopdekar gave credit for his success and entry into politics to his father, Anil Chopdekar and his mother, Anita Chopdekar. They were both councilors in the past in MMC.
