PANAJI: Amit Patkar has strongly criticised the BJP-led Central Government over the alleged cancellation controversy surrounding NEET UG 2026, calling it a “complete failure” in safeguarding the future of students.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president said lakhs of students across the country had spent months and years preparing for the examination with hopes of securing their future through a fair and transparent process.
Patkar alleged that students were now facing uncertainty, stress and injustice due to repeated failures and controversies linked to national-level examinations.
Calling the situation a “collapse of accountability,” he claimed that students were being forced to bear the consequences of a broken system while those responsible continued to escape scrutiny.
The GPCC chief further stated that recurring controversies surrounding NEET had damaged the trust of students and parents in the examination system.
Amit Patkar demanded an immediate, transparent and time-bound investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged developments related to NEET UG 2026 and sought strict action against those found responsible.
He also questioned the Central Government over what he termed repeated failures affecting the future of deserving students and said the aspirations of the youth “cannot be sacrificed because of government incompetence and systemic failure.”
“The youth of India deserve transparency, fairness and accountability,” Patkar said in the statement.
