ANJUNA: Crime Branch has arrested gym instructor Gaus Khatal Shaikh in connection with the Anjuna forced eviction case.
As part of the ongoing investigations, the accused person namely Mr. Gaus Khatal Shaikh r/o Sanquelim Bicholim Goa, was apprehended and brought at Crime Branch Ribandar and was placed under arrest in Anjuna Police station.
The Crime Branch had earlier arrested 05 accused persons namely Rakesh Raha, Parshuram Gawas, Vickey Naik, Janardhan Khorate and Nikhil Shirodkar.
During the course of the investigation following vehicles which were used by by the accused persons in the commission of crime have been attached under the Panchanama
The investigation is ongoing to identify additional individuals involved in the case and the crime branch is making efforts to arrest the other accused person involved in this case.
The case was transferred to the Crime Branch on February 13 after it was discovered that the complainant’s maid had been kidnapped from the scene of the crime.
Sections 309, 140, 61, and 310 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, which deal with abduction, criminal conspiracy, and robbery/dacoity, were then added to the case. Rakesh Raha, Parshuram Gawas, and Vickey Naik were arrested in connection with the case on February 13.
Khorate had previously filed an anticipatory bail application before the Additional Sessions Court in Mapusa, but the Crime Branch opposed it and it was ultimately denied.
