VALPOI: A 32-year-old man lost his life in an alleged shooting incident during a hunting trip in the forests of Sattari, marking the second such fatality in the area in recent months. The deceased has been identified as Hemant Desai, a resident of Advoi in Sattari.
Hemant was reportedly on a hunting expedition accompanied by another individual, Abhijit Desai, when the incident occurred. Valpoi police have since detained Abhijit for questioning as part of their ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
This incident echoes a similar tragedy that took place in December last year, when another young man died during a hunting trip in the same forested region, raising concerns over repeated occurrences and possible illegal hunting activities in the area.
Authorities have yet to confirm the exact cause of the shooting or whether it was accidental. Meanwhile, forest officials and law enforcement are expected to tighten surveillance in the region to prevent further incidents.
