New Delhi: Rajnath Singh issued a strong warning to Pakistan, stating that any attempt at aggression or “misadventure” would invite an unprecedented and decisive response from India.
Speaking at an event in Thiruvananthapuram organised to honour Indian soldiers, the Defence Minister said the government has always given the highest respect to members of the armed forces who make the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
Referring to the recent Pahalgam terror attack, Singh said Indian forces responded swiftly and firmly through Operation Sindoor. According to him, the operation brought Pakistan under pressure within minutes and represented one of the most significant counter terrorism actions undertaken by the Indian military.
He emphasised that the operation was still ongoing and warned that any further provocation from across the border would trigger strong retaliation. Singh said India remains committed to a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism and will respond firmly to any threat to national security.
The Defence Minister also criticised the previous government led by the Indian National Congress, claiming that terror attacks and bomb blasts were more frequent during that period. He alleged that the response at the time was limited to diplomatic protests rather than strong counter measures.
Singh also addressed the evolving situation in West Asia, where tensions have been rising due to the ongoing conflict involving Iran and a US Israel coalition. He assured citizens that the government is closely monitoring developments and taking necessary steps to ensure the safety of Indian nationals in the region.
On concerns about energy supply amid the global crisis, Singh stated that there is no shortage of gas or fuel in India and that the country is prepared to deal with any potential disruptions.
He also appealed for political unity, saying the situation calls for cooperation among all parties rather than partisan politics. Singh added that Narendra Modi is using diplomatic channels to safeguard India’s interests during the ongoing international tensions.
