PORVORIM: The Education department explained that while choosing a unique ID is not required, it is advised to streamline academic records as the state implements the registration of a 12-digit Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR ID) for all registered students.
In accordance with the New Education Policy 2020, APAAR ID is a component of the “One Nation, One Student ID” initiative. 7800 students in Goa have signed up for APAAR ID thus far.
“The new initiative aims to streamline academic records, track student progress, and support students’ educational journeys,” Director of Education Shailesh Zingade told reporters.
The pupil will be given the ID for the rest of their lives. It should make it simpler to monitor a child’s academic progress and facilitate credit transfer in the event that a pupil transfers schools within the state or nationwide,” he stated.
Although it is not required, students are advised to do so since, eventually, once the credit concept is fully implemented, it will be become necessary. Therefore, it is best for pupils to begin registering right now,” the director continued.
Zingade stated that there is a great deal of misunderstanding among parents over the possibility of fraud or misuse of the information as APAAR ID will be connected to both Aadhar and DigiLocker. He said that Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) will oversee the same and that it is a completely risk-free mechanism.
According to him, APAAR will lessen fraud and assist in eliminating any duplicity. Zingade stated, “Once Apaar is fully implemented in the state, no additional certificates other than APAAR will be required.”
