PANAJI: Despite confronting numerous obstacles at the frontiers, our Armed Forces are vigilant all 24 hours, fighting with adversaries, executing their work sincerely, without any grudges, with determination, and sacrificing their lives to protect our Nation, said Governor of Goa Shri. P. S. Sreedharan Pillai at the Armed Forces Flag Day function held at Raj Bhavan.
Also present were Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, Chief Secretary Dr. V. Candavelou, IAS ; Secretary, Department of Sainik Welfare, Shri Pravin Parab and Senior Serving officers and retired members of armed forces and other dignitaries.
The Governor went on to recollect his excursions to the border as Governor of Mizoram, noting that he witnessed the Armed Forces’ difficulties, as well as their passion and dedication to protect our country from external threats.
He thanked the Armed Forces, including the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, for their valorous actions and unshakeable courage in serving the nation and attributed this to the Indian military’s world-class standards.
These forces work tirelessly to protect the country from external threats while also maintaining peace and stability, he added.
Every year on December 7, India celebrates Armed Forces Flag Day to recognise the heroism, sacrifice and service of the country’s armed forces.
This day is dedicated to thank Armed Forces and raising awareness about the well-being of veterans and their families.
The celebration of Armed Forces Flag Day demonstrates India’s dedication to supporting those who protect the country, both on and off duty.
To respect their services, we donate generously on this day, to support the schemes of the welfare and education to their dependent.
The Chief Minister speaking on the occasion, said that Armed forces flag day is important to both armed forces and civilians since it is the sole day when we proudly wear the Indian Army flag on our chests while also having the opportunity to volunteer to contribute to the armed forces for the benefit of society.
Despite its small size, this contribution raises awareness and appreciation among the nation’s youth for the Armed Forces and their sacrifices in protecting the nation and also encouraging them to join the Indian Armed Forces.
The Chief Minister stated that the government has provided maximum support to the Armed Forces and has attempted to fulfil all of the demands that they have voiced from time to time and promised to continue this support in the future.
It is a source of pride for the Goa government that retired commandants and armed services personnel chose to settle in the State of Goa.
He also commended and thanked the Indian Armed Forces for assisting the government during disaster management for betterment of society and urged them to continue this support in the future too.
