PANAJI: India Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa Unit has said that the arrival of monsoon over Goa is less likely to occur before June 5.
“With present observations, the wind patterns for monsoon may take around 4 days to set over the latitudes of Goa. And the rainfall activity also needs to be picked up. In case the rain or wind conditions aren’t meeting with criteria, then date of arrival over Goa may further prolong for 2-3 more days,” said IMD
IMD said that Southwest Monsoon has advanced into some parts of south Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep area, south Kerala, south Tamil Nadu, remaining parts of Comorin – Maldives area and some more parts of southwest Bay of Bengal today, the 3rd June 2021. Thus, Southwest Monsoon has set in over Kerala today, the 03rd June, 2021, against the normal date of 01st June, 2021.
Meanwhile, IMD forecast says that Light to Moderate spells with short intense spells of rain is very likely at isolated places over North Goa & South Goa districts during the next 3-4 hours.
