Pune: Atharva Dharmadhikari struck a commanding century to help Maharashtra finish the opening day at 271 for 6 against Goa in the MCA Senior Men’s Interstate Multi Day Practice Match at the MCA International Cricket Ground, Gahunje.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Maharashtra suffered an early setback when captain Sachin Dhas was dismissed for a duck in the second over by V. Koushik.
Dharmadhikari then took charge of the innings and built a crucial second wicket partnership with Siddhesh Veer. The pair steadied Maharashtra’s innings, with Veer producing a patient 69 from 178 deliveries.
Dharmadhikari went on to complete a superb 130 from 185 balls. His marathon innings included 20 boundaries and a towering six, providing Maharashtra with the foundation for a competitive total.
Goa managed to make inroads during the latter stages of the day, claiming several wickets in the evening session. Harshal Kate contributed 28 before being dismissed, while Rajvardhan Hangargekar was removed after scoring 12.
Ruthvik Naik emerged as Goa’s leading bowler, claiming two wickets for 44 runs. V. Koushik, Amulya Pandrekar, Heramb Parab and Arjun Tendulkar also picked up a wicket each.
At stumps, Vicky Ostwal was unbeaten on 17 while Tanay Sanghavi was on 5. Maharashtra reached 271 for 6 in 76 overs, leaving Goa waiting to begin its first innings.
