Police said the accused rider, identified as Ramchandra Kamble of Nagarcem, was riding a Hero Honda Splendor on Tuesday around 7.15 p.m. when he lost control and hit the stray cattle on the tar road. Team Goemkarponn PANAJI: The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has flagged widespread violations in the manufacture and sale of Ganesh idols, after laboratory tests confirmed the use of Plaster of Paris (PoP) in several samples collected from workshops and shops across multiple talukas. Of the 207 idols inspected till August 21, results for 160 have been released. While 130 idols met the prescribed standards, 24 contained calcium sulphate (CaSO4) levels exceeding 10 per cent, establishing they were made of PoP instead of natural clay as mandated.
