Goemkarponn Desk DUDHSAGAR: Following incessant rainfall, landslides have been reported at two locations in the ghat section of Hubballi division of South Western Railway (SWR). One location is between Dudhsagar and Sonaulim stations and the other between Caranzol and Dudhsagar stations. Mangalore Mumbai Train diverted via Londa derailed between Dudhsagar-Sonaulim section this morning. No passenger casualty has been reported states a SWR Press release. BICHOLIM: Water entered low-lying areas in Sanquelim and the authorities rescued 32 persons from Harvalem. In Sanquelim water flooded the road near Datta temple, Vathareshwar devasthan and also the ground was submerged underwater. At Supachi pud in Harvalem 32 persons were rescued who were stranded due to floods. The chief minister visited the area and took stock of the situation. Both the pumps were pressed into service to throw out water from Sanquelim market. The road leading to Valpoi was submerged at Harvalem and so the traffic was diverted from the village. Goemkarponn desk PONDA: The retaining wall of the tank (tollem)of historic Safa Masjid at Shapur, Ponda collapsed due to heavy rain last evening, posing a danger to the historic masjid. Bandora Sarpanch Rajesh Naik said the incident needs immediate attention from the Archeology department. Naik said the masjid is situated on the edge of the protection wall.
