PONDA: Chickhalpaine Bandhara construction work halted at Kundaim due to the storage of saline water for fishing activity.
Chickhalpaine Farmers Association President Vijesh Naik said storing saline water infield causes a major hurdle in the Construction of Bandhara at Kundaim.
He said that the government recently last month had laid the foundation in the presence of Agriculture Minister and local MLA Power Minister Sudin Dhavlikar at the cost of around Rs 2.5 crore. Thereafter, the contractor started construction on the construction of 1 km long Bandhara work; however, neighbouring Zuvya Katar Farmers Association started storing saline water in the field for fishing activities which is causing obstruction to Bandhara construction.
Vijesh said the stagnated water in the field makes the temporarily created mud road of Bandhara wet and weak, which caves in and makes it difficult for the movement of the mud-loaded truck, which gets stuck.
The contractor hence stopped his mud transportation work yesterday.
This has caused panic among the Chickhalpaine farmers Association as work is halted it would be difficult to complete the work before May this year. Vijesh Naik urged Ponda Mamlatdar to stop the illegal storage of water and fishing activities by Zuvya Katar Farmers Association.
Vijesh Naik said when he urged the Zuvya Katar Association President not to store saline water, he arrogantly rejected his request.
The Ponda Mamlatdar assure to inspect the site on Tuesday at 11 am along with officials.
It may be recalled that around 250 Chickhalpaine Khajna farmers could not cultivate their 35 hectares of fields due to repeated breaches in Bandharas in several places.
