PORVORIM: Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has said that complaints of garbage on Goa’s beaches reported through the Beach Vigil mobile application are being acted upon promptly, with waste being cleared within two hours of being flagged.
Speaking on the initiative, Khaunte said the government has issued clear instructions to the concerned agencies to prioritise cleanliness over administrative procedures.
“Agencies have been told not to keep recommending recruitment but to focus on beach cleanliness. We are here to work together and ensure that this effort is sustained collectively,” he said.
He stressed that the Beach Vigil app is not meant to be a token exercise but a serious tool to improve beach management. “This cannot be a mere exercise of creating an app and responding to it. Issues must be resolved with full departmental support,” Khaunte added.
The minister said the government is committed to maintaining Goa’s beaches in a clean and tourist-friendly condition, and assured that all complaints received through the app will continue to be addressed quickly and effectively.
