The South Goa district has declared Betqui-Candola as a containment zone and ward no 5 in Haldanwad as buffer zone after 32 COVID19 positive cases were reported till date.
“It has been made to appear to me that 32 person from six houses in Ward Haldanwad of Village Panchayat Betqui-Candola of Ponda Taluka in South Gon District have tested positive for COVID-19 as per information received from the Betqui- Candola PHC by the Dy. Collector & Sub Divisional Magistrate Ponda, as such it was requested to declare area as micro-containment zone,” said the order issued by South Goa Collector Ajit Roy.
Therefore, he added, certain areas are now vulnerable to COVID-19 being in close proximity to the epicentre
“Therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me under Section 30 and Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and under provisions of Epidemic Diseases Act. 1897 read with The Goa Epidemic Disease COVID 19 Regulation 2020 1 Ajit Roy,. IAS. District Magistrate, South Goa do hereby declare entire geographical areas, Area-Haldanwada (Ward no 5) in jurisdiction of Village Panchayat of Betqui-Candola in Ponda Taluka as Micro Containment Zone and remaining areas of Haldanwadu (Ward no 5) in jurisdiction of Village Panchayat of Betqui-Candola in Ponda Taluka as
Bulfers Zone for all the purpose and objectives prescribed in the protocol of COVID-19 to prevent its spread in the adjoining areas,” the order reads.
