BICHOLIM: Bicholim municipal council today laid the foundation stone of Bio methanation of garbage project worth Rs 2 crore.
The foundation stone was laid at the hands of the Bicholim MLA and speaker, Rajesh Patnekar. As per the information this is a unique project of the government that will utilize 5 tons of garbage and generate 250-300 MW electricity that will suffice the electricity needs of whole treatment plat thus saving revenue on electricity bills and also produce manure as a by product. It will gie relief to localities by preventing bad smell at surrounding areas of waste treatment plant.
Speaking on the occasion Patnekar told that this is an unique project which would be a boon for BMC. “We hope that the project would be completed in next six months and it would solve the problem of electricity for Lakherem treatment plant. It would also give electricity to the street light in the area.” Patnekar told.
The project would be implemented by a Pune based company and would be taken care of for next five years.
