PANAJI: A 37-year-old man from Corlim was found dead after his body was spotted floating in the Mandovi river near Big Daddy Casino in Panaji on Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, Panaji Police received information from PCR Panaji at around 3.13 pm regarding a body floating in the river near the casino area.
Following the alert, PSI Manjunath Naik along with police staff rushed to the spot at the Captain of Ports jetty in Panaji and found the body floating in the Mandovi river.
The body was later retrieved from the water with the assistance of the Fire and Emergency Services team from Panaji.
During the course of inquiry, the deceased was identified as Raj Naik, 37, a resident of Corlim, Old Goa.
Police subsequently registered an unnatural death case at Panaji Police Station under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, on the directions of PI Panaji Police Station.
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Manjunath Naik.
