BORIM: A 37-year-old man injured in a road accident at Borim succumbed to his injuries at Goa Medical College on February 22, 2026.
According to police, a wireless message was received at 11.14 am from the casualty police of GMC Bambolim informing that Manoj Desai (37), a resident of Borim, Ponda, had expired while undergoing treatment.
Enquiry revealed that the accident occurred on February 21 near Bharat Petrol Pump at Borim, Ponda, involving a mini bus and an Activa scooter. The deceased, who was riding the scooter, sustained injuries in the crash. He was initially shifted to PHC Shiroda, later referred to South Goa District Hospital, Margao, and subsequently to GMC Bambolim for advanced treatment.
In connection with the incident, Ponda Police Station had registered a motor vehicle accident case on February 21.
Police conducted an inquest panchanama and referred the body for post-mortem examination at GMC Bambolim. The Police Surgeon, who conducted the autopsy, certified the cause of death as “damage to head and face associated with fracture of long bones consequent to blunt fore impact from surface and/or object.” Viscera has been preserved for chemical analysis.
The body was later handed over to the family for final religious rites.
