New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday formally launched the BRICS India 2026 website along with the official logo and theme, marking the beginning of India’s chairmanship of the multilateral grouping. He said the digital platform would serve as a central hub for information on meetings, initiatives and events scheduled during India’s tenure.
Addressing the launch event, Jaishankar said the newly unveiled website is designed to provide comprehensive and accessible details about BRICS related activities throughout the year. He noted that the platform would enhance transparency, coordination and public engagement as India steers the grouping through an important phase.
The external affairs minister highlighted the symbolism behind the BRICS 2026 logo, explaining that it incorporates the colours of all member nations. He said the design reflects unity, inclusiveness and equal representation, underscoring the shared identity and collective strength of the BRICS countries. According to him, the logo visually conveys the idea that every member has an equal stake in shaping the grouping’s direction.
Jaishankar also underlined the growing relevance of BRICS cooperation at a time of global uncertainty. He said closer collaboration among member states can help address common challenges faced by developing and emerging economies, ranging from economic volatility to development priorities. Working together, he added, allows the grouping to promote balanced growth and amplify the voice of the Global South on international platforms.
India assumed the BRICS chairmanship on January 1, taking over from Brazil. The role places New Delhi at the centre of agenda setting and coordination for the bloc, which has expanded its influence in recent years through increased membership and broader areas of cooperation.
As chair, India will host the 18th BRICS Summit later this year, an event expected to focus on strengthening multilateral cooperation, reforming global governance institutions and advancing shared development goals. Officials have indicated that India’s approach will emphasise consensus building and practical outcomes that reflect the priorities of member nations.
The launch of the website, logo and theme signals the start of India’s preparations for a year of high level engagements and policy discussions. With BRICS continuing to evolve as a major forum for emerging economies, India’s chairmanship is expected to play a key role in shaping the grouping’s future trajectory.
