PANAJI: The condition of roads in Goa has sparked widespread anger among the residents in Goa.
Numerous accidents have occurred, resulting in injuries and even loss of life. Frustration is mounting as the government repeatedly fails to meet promised deadlines for road repairs.
The latest commitment was to have the roads fixed before the Ganesh Chaturthi festival to ensure safe transportation for the celebrations.
When questioned about the state of the roads and the accountability of engineers, former PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral redirected inquiries to the current Chief Minister, stating that accountability was in place during his tenure and should still be upheld.
Nilesh Cabral emphasized that during his term, he prioritized durable road construction with the same contractors.
“When I was in charge, I did roads with durability with the same contractors. Now CM has made a statement, he will also see that it is done,” he said.
He also acknowledged the Chief Minister’s recent statement about holding engineers and contractors accountable for the road conditions.
The situation regarding road conditions in Goa remains a pressing concern, with residents eagerly awaiting action from the government.
