CALANGUTE: Calangute MLA Michael Lobo today said that PI Paresh Naik is being made a scapegoat while stating that multiple incidents occurred within a short span, leading to his immediate transfer.
“Calangute PI Paresh Naik is being made the scapegoat. Multiple incidents occurred within a short span, leading to his immediate suspension. However, his commendable work remains overlooked,” said Lobo.
He further said that multiple incidents of crimes occurred within a short span, SP & DGP felt that police should do their job and transfer Calangute PI & PSI, but at the same time, they should make sure if the police are given the necessary infra, manpower, vehicles etc.
“Goans have given all their restaurants on rent to outsiders, I don’t know what they want to do. Looks like they just want to make more and more money, but at what cost?” he added.
The MLA also said that Calangute and Candolim a tourist areas and a lot of Indian tourists prefer to come there.
“Police cannot be blamed, as sometimes, tourists are so intoxicated that they think that they own the club, restaurant or even for that matter entire Goa.
“Rule of drinking in open and public spaces is not at all followed. Do’s and dont’s are not been followed,” he added.
Michael said that police presence is very much required but it’s not happening and that government should start policing and patrolling by IRBN police.
“Too many incidents have happened at the start of season. Touts are looting tourists and they have no identity,” he added.
