CANACONA: Keep the guard intact against the dreaded and widely threatening vector borne diseases in Canacona, taluka health authorities have so far encountered just 5 confirmed cases of Dengue, during the June-August months even as monsoon is on the verge of its end soon.
All the five (5) confirmed dengue cases affecting patients between the months of June (1case), July (3) and August (1) months, have been fully cured and patients have fully recovered, according to Canacona Health Officer Dr. Jose Tavares.
Dr Tavares further informed that while the fogging and keeping the surroundings clean and tidy also ensured that there were no Malaria, Chikungunya or any other vector borne cases during the entire monsoon season and till date (06-09-2023).
Fogging activities and awareness was carried out in the areas and surrounding of all the Dengue cases Health Officials also conducted House-to-House survey for water-logging and also searches were conducted to trace any mosquitoes breeding. Containers found with water stagnations were discarded
According to Canacona Health Officer Dr. Jose Tavares. The Health Team of Canacona gave Information, Education and Communication (IEC) on Vector borne Diseases (VBDs) and Demonstration was carried out on Live Larvae . ‘ Fish introduction in unused Wells was done, besides Scrapyards were visited and suitable guidelines and instructions were issued on how to keep the collected scrap in the scrapyards.’
Talks were conducted on IECs in schools mostly in PTA meetings of various schools in the taluka, while Poster competitions were organised between and at the school-levels.
The Health Officer further informed that a Street play is scheduled on 12th September within the Higher Secondary Schools of Canacona taluka .
It may be noted that IEC (Information Education and Communication) is an integral part of the implementation of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana
