PARRA: A hit-and-run accident was reported at Brittowado, Parra, Bardez, where two persons sustained serious injuries after their Honda Activa scooter was allegedly hit by a car travelling from Nagoa towards Mapusa.
According to the complaint lodged by Head Constable Samir Munankar of Mapusa Police Station, the incident occurred on October 3, 2026, at around 7.15 am. An unknown person, who was driving a car bearing registration number GA-03-Y-9695, was allegedly driving in a rash and negligent manner without exercising proper care and caution.
When the car reached opposite Faiz Decor at Brittowado, Parra, the driver allegedly moved towards the extreme right side of the road and collided with an oncoming Honda Activa scooter bearing registration number GA-03-BD-1517. The scooter was travelling from Mapusa towards Nagoa via Parra.
The collision left the scooter rider, 42-year-old Mahmed Kalim Manihar, son of Ramzan Ali Manihar, a resident of Colvale, Bardez, and pillion rider Ayub Idrishi, 39, son of Salim Idrishi, a resident of Brittowado, Parra, seriously injured.
Police said that after the accident, the accused driver allegedly fled from the spot along with the accident-involved car without providing necessary medical assistance to the injured persons or informing the police about the incident.
The complaint was lodged at Mapusa Police Station on October 4, 2026, at around 8.55 pm. Police have initiated an investigation to identify and trace the driver involved in the accident.
The investigation is being conducted by IO Head Constable Samir Munankar.
