CANACONA: Asking students to develop sports skills by themselves, making use of the sports material available in the school, a retired PE Teacher at a Higher Secondary said, ‘there are many career opportunities available in the field of sports nowadays, which students need to explore to their advantage’.
“Therefore, students should make tireless efforts to make a career in the field of sports. Cricketer Neeraj Chopra is a great example,” said Sharendra Naik, the retired sports teacher of Satyavati Soiru Angle Higher Secondary School.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural program of the 29th sports meet of Satyavati Soiru Angle Higher Secondary School held recently at Nirakar Ground in Dapot, Mashem.
On this occasion, the retired sports teacher of the school Sharendra Naik, Teacher Kavindra Phaldesai, Vasalo Carvalho, Teacher Mrs Trupti Prabhu Aajgaonkar, PE Teacher Sajjan Gaonkar and sports secretary of the school Palak Lolyekar were also present.
The program started with sports flag hoisting by Chief Guest Sharendra Naik, followed by the lighting of the sports torch. Kavindra Phaldesai welcomed. Teacher Tripti Prabhu Ajgaonkar introduced the guests. Teacher Anthony M Barreto compered the programme.
On this occasion, the students who participated in various competitions at the national level and achieved success were felicitated at the hands of the chief guest.
A total of 206 students participated in this two-day sports meet. Students participated in various track and field events.
Chandras Velip and Palak Lolyekar won the honour of being the best athletes at the 29th sports meet.
This two-day sports meet was coordinated by PE Teacher Sajjan Gaonkar.
