MARGAO: The INDIA alliance’s opposition parties reaffirmed its call for a retired judge to lead a judicial investigation into the current cash-for-jobs issue.
Concerns over political meddling and anomalies in the probe were voiced by Congress MLA, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) President Amit Palekar, AAP MLA Cruz Silva, and Goa Forward Party (GFP) President Vijai Sardesai during a joint news conference.
In reference to media claims that phony rubber stamps were found at one of the accused’s homes, Sardesai questioned the investigation’s legitimacy. He asked for details on the forgery investigation that Health Minister Vishwajit Rane had initiated.
Sardesai demanded an immediate end to all recruitment efforts, claiming that the hiring procedure for all government positions in Goa is riddled with frauds. Additionally, he said that prominent government figures, like as Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik, have openly admitted that there is a “godfather” involved in the scam and called on the police to look into these allegations.
Sardesai underscored the need to identify the “madam” listed on a list purportedly made by one of the accused, Sandip Parab, identifying bribes and beneficiaries, and chastised the Goa police for their seeming haste in absolving political people of any culpability.
In order to ensure responsibility for all, advocate Ferreira exprAAP Velim MLA Cruz Silva underlined the necessity of identifying applicants who allegedly paid bribes for positions.
The Goa Police were chastised by AAP President Amit Palekar for holding press conferences that appeared to be planned to give politicians a free pass. He said that government pressure overrode the Director General of Police’s (DGP) opposition to these briefings.
Palekar further asserted that evidence was being destroyed, including call logs and tower records connected to the accused and those close to the chief minister. He raised questions about the unexplained death of whistleblower Shridhar Satarkar, implying that there was manipulation and foul play in the decision to declare it a suicide.
He claimed that the probe is being hurried to hide the involvement of important political people and is being directly controlled by the chief minister. “The entire scam is orchestrated by one empress, with all roads leading to Sanquelim,” Palekar added.
