Margao: The Alcon GSB Unity Cup T20 Cricket Tournament continued to thrill audiences on Sunday, with CD Margao Mega Strikers and SinQ Rangers UC securing pivotal victories at the MCC Ground in Margao. The Mega Strikers extended their unbeaten streak, marking their fourth consecutive win, while the SinQ Rangers UC celebrated their second victory in the tournament, dominating the Rising Stars of Antruz.
The tournament, organized by the Goa GSB Sports & Charitable Trust in collaboration with the Goa Saraswat Samaj, has been a showcase of intense cricket action since its inception.
In the first match, CD Margao Mega Strikers faced off against the Madgaon Royals. The Mega Strikers, batting first, posted a competitive total of 143/8 in their 20 overs. Aditya Angle led the charge with 36 runs, supported by Sidhit Raiturkar’s 25 and Siddhesh Prabhu Alvencar’s 23. The Madgaon Royals, despite a strong effort, were bowled out for 125 in 19.2 overs, with Kaushal Hattangadi and Kartik Hattangadi scoring 34 and 31 runs respectively. Siddhesh Prabhu Alvencar’s all-round performance, contributing 23 runs and taking 2 wickets for 23 runs, earned him the Man of the Match award. The Mega Strikers secured a 18-run victory, solidifying their position in the tournament.
The second match saw SinQ Rangers UC take on the Rising Stars of Antruz. The Rising Stars, batting first, managed 149/7 in their 20 overs, with Eeshan Kamat top-scoring with 40 runs. However, the SinQ Rangers UC made light work of the target, chasing it down in just 15.5 overs to finish at 153/3. Megh Netravalkar was instrumental in the victory, scoring 37 runs and taking 1 wicket for 20 runs, which earned him the Man of the Match award. This win marked the second victory for the SinQ Rangers UC, while the Rising Stars of Antruz remain winless after losing all five of their matches.
These victories underscore the competitive spirit and skill on display in the Alcon GSB Unity Cup, setting the stage for more thrilling matches as the tournament progresses.
