VALPOI: Panic gripped patients and staff at the Valpoi Community Health Centre after a section of the ceiling near the patient registration area collapsed on Saturday.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The incident occurred during regular working hours, prompting immediate response from the hospital staff, who evacuated the affected zone as a precautionary measure. Sources said the debris narrowly missed individuals standing nearby.
Health officials have initiated a structural assessment to determine the cause of the collapse and ensure the safety of other sections of the building.
Temporary repairs are expected to be carried out, and services at the centre are continuing with minimal disruption.
Authorities are likely to review the overall infrastructure of the facility to prevent such incidents in future.
