PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that the Government of India has sanctioned ₹1,880.11 crore for the four-laning of the Cuncolim to Bendordem section of NH-66, including bypasses for Cuncolim and Balli towns.
Calling it a landmark moment for Goa’s infrastructure development, Sawant thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for approving the major highway project.
According to the Chief Minister, the project is expected to decongest towns, ease daily travel and accelerate economic growth in South Goa.
Key features of the project include a 5.78-km six-lane elevated corridor, bypasses for Cuncolim and Balli, a major six-lane railway overbridge, along with improved service roads, junctions and pedestrian safety infrastructure.
Sawant stated that the project reflects the Centre and State government’s continued focus on strengthening Goa’s infrastructure and connectivity.
