PANAJI: Goa Cricket Association Premier Division League entered an exciting phase in the third round as Chowgule Sports Club registered a commanding 125 run victory over Dempo Cricket Club in a match that concluded within two days at the GCA Academy Ground.
Resuming their second innings at 16 for 3, Chowgule were bowled out for 150 in 34.5 overs. Darshan Misal top scored with 48 runs while Pradyumna Atpadkar contributed 25. For Dempo, Abhinav Tejrana delivered an impressive bowling spell, claiming five wickets for 48 runs.
Chasing a target of 268, Dempo struggled against Chowgule’s disciplined bowling attack and were dismissed for 142 in 28.4 overs. Abhinav Tejrana again fought hard with the bat, scoring 37, while Snehal Kauthankar added 33. Off spinner Shubham Desai led the bowling charge for Chowgule with a superb six wicket haul for 55 runs, while Darshan Misal supported with four wickets for 71. Misal’s outstanding all round contribution earned him the Player of the Match award.
In another fixture at the GCA Academy Ground, Geno Sports Club gained a significant advantage against Margao Cricket Club by securing a first innings lead of 106 runs. Geno resumed from 28 without loss and went on to post 344 runs. Manthan Khutkar narrowly missed a century with a well crafted 94, while captain Samar Dubhashi scored 77 and Atharva added 52. Valuable contributions from Manish Kakode and Veer Yadav helped Geno extend their lead. Margao Cricket Club later reached 49 for 1 in their second innings and were still trailing by 57 runs.
At the NAPEX Ground, Salgaocar Cricket Club produced a massive first innings total of 530 runs against Panjim Gymkhana. Captain Yash Kasvankar played a remarkable innings of 191 runs, missing a double century by just nine runs. Rithwik Naik remained unbeaten on 54. In response, Panjim Gymkhana made a steady start, reaching 112 for 1 with Ishan Gadekar scoring 54 and Suyash Prabhudesai unbeaten on 58, keeping their hopes alive in the contest.
