Margao: Slamming Curtorim MLA Alexio Reginald Lourenco accusations that he is a BJP man, Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao on Sunday reiterated that his support to the Dr Pramod Sawant-led BJP Government is issue based.
“My support to BJP is issue based as I want development of my constituency,” he told reporters in Margao.
He said that it was Reginald, who wanted to join BJP along with 10 others last year.
“It was clear when he called CM Sawant as chief guest for his birthday. However, things did not materialise as he wanted TCP portfolio and BJP refused,” he charged.
Churchill said that Minister Michael Lobo was on record saying that they would make Reginald Dy CM.
“After all this, he is blaming me for being BJP man? When Parrikar was CM he asked me to join BJP and the would make me minister but I refused,” he says.
Churchill says he is the person because of whom the Vajpayee government collapsed. “They offered me goodies but I refused,” he said.
“Reginald should now answer why he has been given a chamber in the assembly. He is an opportunist politician”, the former chief minister said.
