PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that a office memorandum has been issued directing all departments to dispose scrap and waste piling over several years within 15 days.
Within the next 15 days, Sawant stated, “all government departments have been instructed to clear their offices of unwanted scrap, waste, e-waste, old vehicles, etc.” The official in charge of each office has also been given permission to dispose of this scrap up to a maximum of Rs 5 lakh.
The approval of their department superiors is mandatory for these officers for junk valued at over Rs 5 lakh and up to Rs 10 lakh. Scrap valued at more than 10 lakh must be disposed of with the Secretary’s approval, according to Sawant.
The chief minister claimed that because there is so much rubbish and scrap laying about, a significant amount of space in government offices is being squandered.
The departments have already received circulars asking them to clear it, and the finance department has also been told to make the required arrangements.
