PANAJI: Renewing the push for a Drug-Free Goa, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Saturday launched the ‘Nasha Mukht Bharat, Nasha Mukht Goa’ campaign along with a wellness camp at Sai Nursing Institute in North Goa.
The initiative, supported by the Addiction Treatment Facility, aims to promote awareness, reduce stigma, and strengthen treatment for addiction to narcotics, tobacco, and alcohol.
Sawant urged local elected representatives, including Sarpanch and Panchayat members, to take the lead in building awareness and ensuring communities treat addiction as a serious health issue.
He cautioned that drug networks are actively targeting Goan youth by luring them with quick money for transporting suspicious parcels, drawing many into the illegal drug trade.
Highlighting the need for vigilance, the Chief Minister called on parents to maintain open communication with their children, stay alert to their social circles, and offer guidance to help them resist such traps.
“Awareness at home is crucial in protecting our youth,” he said.
Emphasising that the fight against drugs is not the police’s responsibility alone, Sawant called for a united effort involving families, educators, and community leaders.
“We need to work together to create a Nasha Mukht Goa,” he declared, urging all citizens to support anti-drug initiatives and help make Goa truly drug-free.
“We need to work together to create a Nashamukt Goa,” he declared, encouraging every citizen to support anti-drug initiatives.
