PANAJI:The Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today ruled out any possibilities of a mid term state polls stating that government wants to complete all the developmental works and fill 10,000 vacant posts in the State administration by December.
Sawant also announced to release the report card on his three-year governance before end of the term in February, 2022. The Sawant led government was formed in March 2019, post death of former CM late Manohar Parrikar.
In an interview to a local channel, Sawant said that every BJP ruled State has to submit an annual report card to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “I have been doing that. Prime Minister seeks report. A final report card, on my complete three year tenure, would be presented before we go for polls in February 2022,” he said.
Sawant said that a separate report card on performance of every Cabinet Minister would be also done before the end of the term.
Ruling out all possibilities of mid-term State polls, the Chief Minister said that the government wants to complete all the developmental works and fill 10,000 vacant posts in the State administration by December, this year.
“There is no chance of going for mid-term polls. We have a lot of work to be completed. In this one year, we want to finish all developmental work and complete the recruitment process,” he said.
Thanking the party for announcing him as the Chief Minister’s face for the 2022 election, Sawant said that the announcement will give more clarity to the voters.
He also said that the party sees every election as final and there is nothing called a semi final. He said BJP fights every election for victory.
Sawant said that during the two-year long term as the Chief Minister, he has understood that State’s interest and public interest should be the government priority and that his government is working in that direction. “I have always managed to overcome all hurdles to protect government decisions when it is in State interest,” he said.
“But sometime, in public interest, you need to overrule your own decisions,” he added.
The Chief Minister said that Rs 300 crore sanctioned by the Central government would be spent towards human and infrastructure development along with restoration of monuments and sites related to Goa’s freedom struggle.
Further, Sawant said that making Goa swayampurna was his dream since the time he was elected as MLA. “When I became CM, I got the opportunity to work on it. Pandemic gave more boost to my plan,” he said.
