PANAJI: CM Pramod Sawant has called upon farmers and agricultural stakeholders in Goa to adopt sustainable and climate-resilient farming practices to protect the State’s fragile ecosystems and strengthen the agriculture sector.
In a statement, the Chief Minister said Goa has always lived in harmony with nature and stressed that the agriculture sector must now lead the way towards a sustainable future.
Referring to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sawant highlighted the importance of the “4 R’s” in farming — Right Source, Right Dose, Right Time and Right Place — while also aligning with the Prime Minister’s seven appeals aimed at promoting environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
Sawant urged farmers to reduce dependence on chemical inputs and promote the use of natural fertilisers prepared from organic waste. He also encouraged the cultivation and consumption of naturally grown produce to make Goa a model state for organic and sustainable farming.
The Chief Minister said sustainable agriculture was essential for building a “Swayampurna” and “Viksit” Goa and called for collective efforts to preserve the environment while ensuring long-term agricultural growth and food security.
