PANAJI: It is loud and clear that the Announcement made by the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to file a Special Leave Petition in the Supreme Court is to buy time to avoid backlash on BJP during upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. The Government needs to find Legislative Cure to the issue of Structures getting affected due to CRZ Norms, stated Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao.
Leader of Opposition slammed the Chief Minister Dr. Parmod Sawant for blaming the Local Panchayat and the Panchayat Secretary for allegedly misrepresenting before the High Court on the matter. What was the Advocate General of Goa doing? questioned Yuri Alemao.
It is the responsibility of the Legal Cell of the Government headed by Advocate General to advise and guide the Panchayats, Municipalities and other Government Departments. Government Officials should realise that the BJP Government will put the blame on them and disown them when controversies erupt. It is high time that all Government Officials and Staff refrain from doing anything coming under the pressure of the Politicians, stated Yuri Alemao.
It appears that the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has made the Statement in haste without evaluating the consequences of the outcome of the Supreme Court Decision. I want to caution the Government that the SLP should not result in further complications. Goa Government should convince the Centre that the CRZ Law in its present form is affecting Livelihoods in Goa, stated Yuri Alemao.
BJP is ruling the State for last twelve years. They are at the Centre for last ten years. Unfortunately, the so called Double Engine Government could not solve the issues concerning Goans and Traditional Occupations of Goa, stated Yuri Alemao.
