DABOLIM: As part of the Coast Guard Week 2025 celebrations, a cycling rally themed ‘Surakshit Tat’ is making its way along India’s western coastline, spreading awareness about maritime safety, security, and national pride.
The rally, which began in Daman on February 2, will cover 1,860 km, culminating in Vizhinjam, Kerala, on February 23. A total of 20 cyclists are participating in this initiative, promoting fitness, environmental consciousness, and maritime security awareness.
Upon reaching Vasco-da-Gama on February 10, the rally was warmly received by Coast Guard District Headquarters No. 11 (CGDHQ-11). On February 12 at 7:00 AM, the team was flagged off towards Karwar by Suman Kumar, IDSE, Chief Engineer, Coast Guard, Goa.
During their stay in Goa, the cyclists interacted with local fishermen and fisheries department officials, discussing the Indian Coast Guard’s role, career opportunities, and the vital contribution of fishermen to coastal security.
The initiative aligns with national campaigns like the Fit India Movement and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, reinforcing a commitment to a cleaner and safer maritime environment.
