CANACONA: A Coconut –Tree threatening to fall on an old building and the busy road to Fruits & Vegetables Market at Chaudi is finally removed safely by the Fire Service on Friday.
According to sources, requests were made to the authorities to remove the coconut tree which was dangerously poised and threatening to fall anytime on a building housing Sunita Laundry alongside the road to Municipal Fruits & Vegetables Market at Chaudi, but no one paid any heed to the requests.
It is learnt that finally it was petitioned to Canacona’s Disaster Management Authority not to delay but hasten to remove the coconut tree, which otherwise likely to create disaster if it comes down during the day, when there is heavy movement of people in all the directions of the busy locality. Incidentally, even the Saturday weekly bazaar fills up on the roadside
On Friday, under the watchful eye of Canacona Mamlatdar Manoj Korgaonkar, Fire Services personnel with the help of JCBCrane finally brought down the coconut tree without causing any damages to any structures at the otherwise busy locality.
Ex-CMC Chairperson Sameer Desai, Fire Service Canacona Station Officer Dhiraj Desai, besides, other prominent residents were also present.-
