COLVA: Colva Police have registered a case under the NDPS Act after a 21-year-old man was allegedly found in possession of suspected ganja at Cavelossim in Salcete.
According to police, PSI Nikhil Khajnekar of Colva Police Station lodged the complaint following a raid conducted on the basis of reliable and specific information received from sources.
Police said that during the operation carried out on May 13 between 4 pm and 5 pm at Betty Waddo, Cavelossim, the accused, identified as Abhishak Dundappanavar, a resident of Cavelossim, was allegedly found in possession of fruiting and flowering tops suspected to be ganja weighing around 400 grams.
The seized contraband has an estimated market value of approximately Rs 40,000, police said.
Following the seizure, Colva Police registered an offence under Section 20(b)(ii)(A) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
Police stated that FIR copies are being prepared for submission before the JMFC Court at Margao and other concerned superior officers. Wireless messages regarding the case were also flashed to PCR units at Panaji and Margao.
Further investigation is in progress.
