New Delhi: UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan concluded a brief but high-impact visit to New Delhi, underscoring the growing momentum in India UAE relations. During the visit, he held wide-ranging discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation across economic, strategic, and future-oriented sectors.
Both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to sustainable development and long-term economic growth, highlighting the deep historical ties and evolving partnership between the two nations. The discussions reflected a mutual desire to expand collaboration in areas that deliver tangible benefits to people and businesses in both countries.
Prime Minister Modi described the meeting as warm and productive, noting that the talks covered a broad spectrum of issues aimed at reinforcing the multifaceted friendship between India and the UAE. The engagement reaffirmed the comprehensive strategic partnership that has steadily expanded in recent years.
Several significant outcomes marked the visit. India and the UAE signed a Letter of Intent on investment cooperation involving the Government of Gujarat and the UAE Ministry of Investment. The agreement focuses on the development of the Dholera Special Investment Region, envisioned as a major industrial and infrastructure hub. Plans include the development of an international airport, a greenfield port, smart urban infrastructure, railway connectivity, energy facilities, and aviation training and aircraft maintenance centres.
The two sides also agreed to work towards a Strategic Defence Partnership Framework Agreement. This initiative aims to expand defence cooperation in areas such as defence manufacturing, advanced technologies, training and education, special operations, cyber security, counter-terrorism, and operational interoperability.
Economic cooperation featured prominently, with both countries setting an ambitious target to double bilateral trade to over USD 200 billion by 2032. The strategy includes closer integration of MSMEs, promotion of new markets, and leveraging initiatives such as Bharat Mart, the Virtual Trade Corridor, and Bharat Africa Setu.
Additionally, India and the UAE agreed to promote civil nuclear cooperation, building on India’s SHANTI Act 2025. The collaboration will cover advanced nuclear technologies, including large reactors and small modular reactors, along with nuclear safety, operations, and maintenance.
The visit concluded with a shared resolve to navigate global uncertainties through closer economic and strategic alignment, reinforcing the India UAE partnership as a key pillar of regional and global cooperation.
