PANAJI: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Media & Communication Department Chairman Amarnath Panjikar on Tuesday strongly criticised the BJP Government over the continuous rise in prices of fuel and essential commodities, alleging that inflation has pushed ordinary families into severe financial distress.
Addressing the media in Panaji, Panjikar said that repeated hikes in petrol, diesel, milk, bread and other daily essentials have made survival increasingly difficult for common citizens. He claimed that every visit to a petrol pump or grocery store has become a reminder of the Government’s failure to control inflation and safeguard household incomes.
Panjikar stated that while BJP leaders continue speaking about “development” and “Viksit Bharat,” people across the country are struggling with rising expenses, shrinking savings and growing economic insecurity. According to him, increasing fuel prices have a cascading effect on transportation, food, education and healthcare costs, placing additional pressure on the middle class, workers, youth, farmers and senior citizens.
He further alleged that the Government was burdening citizens through taxes and price hikes while continuing to spend heavily on publicity and political campaigns. Panjikar questioned how families are expected to cope when salaries remain stagnant and the cost of living continues to rise every month.
Calling the BJP’s “double engine government” slogan a “double burden government,” Panjikar claimed that citizens are paying more for fuel, food and transportation amid rising unemployment and economic uncertainty.
He demanded an immediate reduction in fuel taxes along with concrete measures to curb inflation and provide relief to the public. Panjikar warned that growing public frustration over rising prices could intensify if urgent corrective steps are not taken.
