New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency has arrested two additional suspects in connection with the deadly bomb blast near Delhi’s historic Red Fort, taking the total number of arrests in the case to eleven. The agency said the latest arrests mark a significant step in uncovering the wider terror conspiracy behind the attack.
The accused have been identified as Zameer Ahmad Ahangar, a resident of Ganderbal in Jammu and Kashmir, and Tufail Ahmad Bhat from Srinagar. Investigators stated that both men were actively involved in planning and supporting the attack and were formally taken into custody after evidence linked them to key logistical roles in the conspiracy.
According to the investigation, the two men supplied weapons and related material to the prime accused in the case. Their role was described as critical in enabling the execution of the attack, which targeted a high profile area of the national capital and caused widespread panic.
The blast occurred on November 10, 2025, killing eleven people and injuring several others. The explosion also claimed the life of the main accused, Umer Un Nabi, who died at the scene. Authorities have since been working to trace every individual connected to the planning, financing, and execution of the attack.
The NIA has identified Zameer Ahmad Ahangar and Tufail Ahmad Bhat as overground workers who provided active support to the terror network. Investigators said they maintained close links with operatives of the banned outfit Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind and played a role in facilitating movement, supplies, and coordination.
Officials said the arrests were made following sustained intelligence gathering, analysis of digital evidence, and interrogation of previously detained suspects. The agency stressed that the case remains under active investigation, with a focus on identifying handlers, funding channels, and any cross border connections.
With the latest developments, the NIA said it is closer to reconstructing the full chain of events that led to one of the deadliest terror incidents in Delhi in recent years. Further arrests have not been ruled out as investigators continue to pursue leads to ensure that all those involved are brought to justice.
