VASCO: People from Cortalim constituency have submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Collector of Mormugao opposing the land acquisition for the purpose of double tracking.
On Monday morning, people of Cortalim constituency along with the Aam Aadmi Party leader Alina Saldhana, Valmiki Nayak, Sunil Loran came to the Deputy Collector Mormugao office to submit the memorandum asking to drop the land acquisition for the purpose of Double tracking. When the group came to meet the deputy collector, the office staff informed them that the officer was attending the training program elsewhere.
Speaking to the reporters, AAP leader Alina Saldhana slammed the BJP government for working against the interests of the people of Goa who are opposing the double tracking project which would eventually harm the ecology of Goa.
She said that the Supreme court has highlighted that the double tracking is not an urgently needed project and not feasible in Goa as per the CEC report. Saldhana opined that the land acquisition for the double tracking should not happen.
Valmiki Nayak, AAP leader said that the people know that the double tracking is being forced on the people to benefit some businessman friends of the top leader and not the general public.
Nayak further pointed out that when the ecology of Goa is being looked to protect then why the people’s problem and opposition to this project is being neglected. He said that people are going to be affected adversely from the double tracking.
