VASCO: In a significant development, Cortalim Sarpanch Senia Pereira tendered her resignation on Tuesday, citing personal reasons. Pereira, who has served the Cortalim village as Sarpanch for the past two years, submitted her resignation to the Mormugao Block Development Officer.
“It was a privilege to serve as the Sarpanch of Cortalim village. My tenure of two years, which concluded in August, was marked by significant achievements. However, I am stepping down due to personal reasons,” Pereira stated in her resignation.
The Panchayat, formed under the leadership of MLA Anton Vas, saw Pereira taking on the role of Sarpanch for a term of two years, which has now come to an end. Pereira confirmed that, as per the agreement, the next Sarpanch will be Panch Ujwala Naik.
Reflecting on her time in office, Pereira credited the success of her tenure to the unwavering support from the Panch members and MLA Anton Vas. “We have undertaken numerous development projects, including relocating government offices to the new market complex, addressing garbage issues, and completing tenant surveys. I wish Ujwala Naik all the best in her future role as Sarpanch,” Pereira concluded.
