BICHOLIM: A neighbourhood dispute triggered by a quarrel between children playing cricket allegedly turned violent at Velguem in Bicholim, leaving a woman injured.
According to police, the complaint was lodged by Suhasini Gaonkar, 35, a resident of Sawribhat, Velguem. The incident reportedly took place on Wednesday evening.
Police said an argument first broke out between children from the two families while they were playing cricket on a nearby ground. Following the quarrel, the children informed their parents about the incident.
Investigators stated that the accused couple, identified as Suvarna Gawande and Sandip Gawande, allegedly entered the complainant’s backyard and verbally abused her.
During the altercation, the woman allegedly assaulted the complainant with a wooden stick, causing injuries to her hand, shoulder, face and head.
The injured woman was initially taken to PHC Pillem-Tisk in Dharbandora and was later referred to the Sub-District Hospital in Ponda for further treatment.
Bicholim police have registered a case, and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Akash Parwar.
