PANAJI: PANAJI Court has granted seven days of police custody to Siddiqui Suleman Khan, who was arrested in Kerala and brought to Goa on Monday evening.
“Accused Suleiman has been granted 07 days PC by Magistrate. He was produced last evening. This custody granted is for Old Goa case” said SP North Goa
Rahul Gupta of the SP Crime Branch revealed that Siddiqui’s wife will also be taken into custody in connection with a Mapusa land fraud case.
Suleman was discovered hiding at his Kerala home, where his wife Afsana was also taken into custody.
Police found important evidence at his home during the search, including 16 passbooks, several Aadhaar cards, 12 phones, 30 cheque books, several ration cards, sale documents and stamp pads connected to certain businesses.
During his nine-day escape, Siddiqui changed places eight times throughout Karnataka and Kerala, according to the inquiry.
“We notified the Ernakulam (Kerala) Police after receiving a tip, and they were able to apprehend him. “At the time, he was with his wife,” SP Gupta stated.
To find Suleiman, the Goa police sent out 14 teams with a total of more than 70 officers.
