PERNEM: PSI Laxman of the Pernem Police Station has been transferred to the North District Reserve Line after allegations surfaced regarding the delayed registration of an FIR in connection with an assault case involving a minor girl at Khajne, Pernem on April 14.
The complainant, in her statement to the police, accused Samir, a government employee from Pernem, of physically assaulting her daughter. According to the complaint, Samir grabbed the victim’s T-shirt and forcefully pulled her towards him. When the minor girl tried to resist, the accused allegedly caught her hand and tore her T-shirt, thereby outraging her modesty.
Sources within the police department revealed that PSI Laxman’s delay in registering the First Information Report (FIR) against Samir led to concerns about the investigation’s proper handling. The action comes after mounting pressure from the public and the victim’s family to expedite the legal process.
The police have confirmed that the case is now being thoroughly investigated and further legal actions will follow as per the law.
